DisCoat Optishield
DISCOAT OPTISHIELD
is an aqueous based peelable coating designed for in-process as well as archiving
protection of optical media. Suitable for CD, CD-R, and DVD formats.
DISCOAT OPTISHIELD provides a durable, long lasting
protective layer that protects against surface scratches and oxidation. The OPTISHIELD
film releases easily and cleanly from the protected substrate, requiring no tools,
solvents or additional cleaning after peeling.
OPTISHIELD is
applied directly to the stamper surface by spin coating. Because the product is aqueous
based, it may be applied to water wet substrates after electroforming, providing immediate
protection from oxidation. Once applied, the film dries from an opaque white color to a
clear coating so that there is no guessing when the film has completed drying. During this
curing process, OPTISHIELD uses capillary action to remove all water form the metal
substrate, elimination under-coating oxidation.
OPTISHIELD'S film
durability, dry time and ease at removal are comparable to traditional vinyl films. Like
solvent-based products, surface contaminants are removed with the film upon peeling.
OPTISHIELD
contains no solvents or other hazardous or toxic materials, allowing for zero VOX**
operation in stamper finishing. Furthermore, the peeled OPTISHIELD film is also
non-hazardous, requiring no special handling.
The dried
OPTISHIELD is so soluble in mild alkaline solutions, making spin coat bowl cleaning easy
and simple.
